◆表現力が凄い一曲
「Wind It Up」(邦題：グウェン姐さんのねじ巻き行進曲。) は、グウェン・ステファニーのセカンド・ソロアルバム「The Sweet Escape」からのリード・シングルとして2006年10月30日にリリースされました。当時この曲は全米6位・全英3位を記録しています。
グウェン×ファレルの相性が炸裂したシンプルながらアガる曲であり、グウェンの意向でミュージカル「サウンド・オブ・ミュージック」の「孤独な羊飼い」が挿入され、MVもミュージカルを意識した内容になっています。
ファレル特有の非常にシンプルなサウンドでありながら、グウェンの圧倒的な表現力によって、よりキャッチーでアガる一曲に仕上がっているのが本当にすごいと感じます。
2006年のBillboard Music Awardsで披露されたパフォーマンスでは、ほぼ原曲通りのミニマルなトラックのまま、彼女のボーカルと存在感だけで会場を熱狂させていて、とてもカッコいい。あの雰囲気は、他のアーティストにはなかなか出せない唯一無二のものだと思います。

※Wind it up：文字通りには「巻く」という意味、スラングでは「盛り上げる」「テンションを上げる」「勢いをつける」といったニュアンス。この曲ではMVや邦題のように「ねじを巻き上げる」こと指しつつ、そこにスラング的要素を絡めていると思われる。
